This chapter provides an overview of how to process tabular data
with standard tools and Glish capabilities.
The major modules and tools that are required are:
- Glish - as the command line processor, for reading and writing
files, and for various processing operations.
- Table tool - is for reading, writing, accessing and
browsing tables. Conversions can be made to and from ascii formats, and
from FITS binary tables. The Table tool supports selections and
queries using the Table Query Language
(TaQL).
- Pgplotter tool - is used to plot
data using an interface to the PGPLOT graphics package.
- Measures & Quanta tools - are
useful for various conversions.
- mathematics module - has various
tools for mathematical operations such as statistics, fitting,
fourier transforms, etc.
The User Reference
Manual
contains the primary
documentation for all these tools and their functions. The aim of this
document is to provide pointers to the relevant chapters and examples.
