Richard Strom turned 65 this year. Richard has been with ASTRON for more than 35 years and in the Netherlands even longer. To celebrate this we are organizing a Stromfest where many of the topics that interest Richard, and on which he worked himself, will be presented.
The main themes to be presented at the Stromfest are:
- History of Astronomy
- Observations of Ancient Supernovae
- Galactic Supernova Remnants
- Pulsars and Instrumentation
- Planetary Radio Astronomy
- Radio Galaxies and Polarization
- Future Large Radio Telescopes

The Stromfest will be held at ASTRON, Dwingeloo, The Netherlands on October 1-2, 2009. The meeting starts at 13:00 on Thursday and will end around 16:00 on Friday.

There is time in the scientific program for an additional 8-10 talks on topics in the areas indicated above. We expect that among these additional talks there will be a few contributions on the first results with LOFAR, the revolutionary new radio telescope that’s being rolled out right now.
If you would like to attend the Stromfest, and possibly deliver a talk yourself on any of the above topics, please inform the SOC. You can send your email, and any other enquiries, to: stromfest [at] astron [dot] nl
