Dwingeloo 1 revisited

Submitter: Albert van Duin
Description: During my holidays in September I took the chance to make another image of Dwingeloo 1. The Daily Image of 24-8-2007 http://www.astron.nl/dailyimage/main.php?date=20070824 was made in Beilen, so there was a lot extinction due to humidity in the air. The dry, clear and dark skies in the Provence proved to be a big advantage for imaging this faint galaxy. This time a larger field is shown with to the left is part of IC1848 (the Soul nebula) in Cassiopeia. The galaxy Dwingeloo 1 is the small reddish smudge, visible a bit above centre. The field is about 1.5 x 2.5 degrees.

The image is a stack of twelve 5-minute exposures at 800 ISO on September 10, 2007 acquired near the village of Puimichel in the south of France with a 20 cm ASA astrograph. More images can be found at http://www.astropix.nl
