ASTRON

Open Day 2010

Sunday 24 October: ASTRON, JIVE and NOVA Open Day 2010

How much do you weigh on a different planet? How big is the Universe? How can you make your own comet? You can find out all these things on Sunday 24 October 2010 between 12.00-17.00 hrs at the Open Day of ASTRON, JIVE and the NOVA Opt/IR Group at ASTRON, institutes where astronomers are researching the Universe. The Open day has many activities for kids to offer.

The Open day takes place near the Westerbork telescope (so not in Dwingeloo). On this day you can even operate the telescope yourself! You can also make your own electronic package in the Fun lab, and listen to astronomers tell the most fascinating stories about stars and planets. You can also make your own exploding star, called a pulsar, and play many other interactive games!

Location: Schattenberg 1, Zwiggelte (near the Westerbork telescope).

Opening hours: 12.00-17.00 hrs.

Entrance is free.

Parking: near the telescope.
