Accommodation Information International SKA Forum 2010

Except for the Int. SKA Forum 2010, the inauguration of LOFAR and the dinners, all ISKAF2010 meetings and events will take place at Hof van Saksen from 9-16 June 2010. This resort is located 7 kilometers east of Assen, the provincial capital of Drenthe in the northern part of the Netherlands. The accommodation is modern yet characteristic for this part of the Netherlands: Saxon farmhouse-style cottages with thatched roofs, bordering rural village greens. Hof van Saksen further offers culinary class restaurants, a Grand Café and Spa & Wellness centre, a professional gym and a large swimming pool. The conference will take place in the meeting room of the central "Havezate" building. The welcoming reception on 9 June will also be held at the Havezate.

Bookings of the accommodation

Booking of the accommodation can be done via the registration module – not direct via Hof van Saksen or via the hotels!

It is advisable to book your accommodation before 10 May.

For participants of the conference ‘A new Golden Age for Radio Astronomy’ Hof van Saksen is the preferred accommodation.

Participants of the Agencies SKA Group meeting are advised to book a hotel in Groningen.

For participants of the CISS meeting Hof van Saksen is the preferred accommodation.

For participants of the Int. SKA Forum 2010 the Mercure Hotel or Hof van Saksen is advised.

Accommodation Hof van Saksen

The farmhouse-style cottages include hotel service (bathrobe, pair of slippers, coffee set, toiletries) and are all situated at walking distance from the conference room in the Havezate. The cottages have three bedrooms and one bathroom. A block reservation is made for the period 9-16 June, allowing the participants to also attend the International SKA Forum 2010 on 15 June that will be held in the TT-hall in Assen - at the famous Dutch TT motorsports circuit!

Accommodation rates

Please note that the accommodation prices are fixed prices, independent of the duration of your stay during the period 9-16 June 2010:

€ 622,50 per person for single use of the cottage
€ 322,50 per person for double use of the cottage
€ 222,50 per person if the cottage is shared by 3 persons*
€ 172,30 per person if the cottage is shared by 4 persons*

* note that the cottage has three bedrooms: one double bedroom and  two single bedrooms.

These rates include hotel service, but are excluding daily services. The daily services are mentioned below.

Example for double use of cottage: if you stay for two or three nights and share the cottage, the rate is € 322,50 per person. If you stay for 7 nights, the price is still € 322,50.

Daily services for cottage accommodation

- Breakfast at the Al Fresco restaurant € 17,50 per person per day (optional)
- Bed linen and towels € 16,50 per cottage per day (standard)
Payment of the daily services should be done upon arrival at Hof van Saksen. Of course this depends on the duration of your stay. Furthermore, local tourist taxes are € 1,85 per day.

Payment of the accommodation will have to be done upon check-in.

The Groningen Congres Bureau will assign the cottages, bearing in mind the gender and nationality of the participants sharing a cottage. If you already know with whom you want to share the cottage, please indicate his/her name.

Wifi at Hof van Saksen

The farmhouse-style cottages at Hof van Saksen have no internet connection. The conference building however has free wifi connection during the entire conference.

HOTELS IN GRONINGEN

(for those who only participate in the Agencies SKA Group meeting and/or Int. SKA Forum 2010)

Hotel reservations can be made via the registration module and will be handled by the Groningen Congres Bureau. For any questions you can contact us by email: info [at] groningencongresbureau [dot] nl

All prices are per room per night and are including full buffet breakfast, service, VAT and city tax (€ 3,30 p.p.p.n.)

For hotel reservations, the STCH apply. These will be sent to you on request.

Cancellations can only be accepted in writing before June 1^st, 2010.

All cancellations will be subject to € 25 cancellation fee.

(From June 1^st , 2010 no cancellations can be accepted.)

For all delegates coach transportation during the conference will be arranged between the City of Groningen, the conference venue Hof van Saksen and the conference venue TT hall.
The shuttle bus will pick up the delegates from all three hotels in Groningen, and bring them back to their hotel as well. For more information about the transportation schedule, see 'logistics'.

NH Groningen Hotel (****)

The hotel is located in midtown Groningen, in front of the UMCG (University Medical Centre Groningen). It is easy to reach by car, just follow the signs from UMCG.

Mercure Hotel Martiniplaza (****)

Hotel Mercure Groningen Martiniplaza is the perfect place to stay during your business trip or leisure break to Groningen. Located off the A7 highway, exit 36, between the Gasunie building and Martiniplaza, the hotel has a modern bar/restaurant and Business Point M. All 157 of the hotel's rooms are non-smoking and standard features include air conditioning, safe, minibar, coffee & tea-making facilities, rain shower, Wi-Fi and ADSL (payable).
