Objectives

The Strategic Plan for Astronomy in the Netherlands 2011-2020 mentions the need for developing enabling technologies for space-based radio interferometry instruments to be deployed post 2020. To support the stated goal to open up a new spectral window for astronomical science, initiators propose to establish a coordinating platform, the Netherlands Low-frequency radio Astronomy Platform (NLAP). The objective of the NLAP is to coordinate all the activities relating to the technological developments and scientific exploration of the low-frequency (<30 MHz) domain in The Netherlands. The platform will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas and knowledge, and will also serve as a platform for project proposal matchmaking. The aim is to start as a national activity but to gradually expand to a European platform.
