- Attach the WADDS output to the cables which go to the DLB IF patch panel
(i.e. attach the cables to the spigots labeled `Outputs to Pulsar Backend'
at the back of the ASTI box). The ASTI box FFB outputs labelled
0X-7Y go the DLB-WADDS cables labelled 0X-7Y.
- Connect the other ends of these cables to the DLB IF inputs at the DLB IF
patch panel (in Rack 2, `Equalizer Versterkers'). B0X goes to IF6X,
B0Y goes to IF6Y, B1X to IF7X and so on.
- Set the synthesizer (Sys Donner ZWO 856) to the appropriate
frequency (26.875MHz for 5MHz bandwidth and 24.375MHz for 10MHz
bandwidth. If you want a bandwidth less than 5MHz you can tune the LO2
to chose the wanted part of the WADDS band. Note that to tune the LO2
you have to understand the WSRT mixing scheme. The relation between the
direction of the IF band and the sky frequency depends on the frequency
that you are observing at). The gain on the synthesizer is set to 0dBm.
- Unplug the DLB LO2 from the W150-6 power amp and insert the output
from the ZWO 856 synthesizer. The power amp is in Rack 1, labelled on the
front of the rack.
- In the 3rd Rack `Tussenversterkers' bypass the DLB amplifiers
- In the second to last rack (LO2 Switching unit W241) enable DCB fringe
rotation and disable DLB fringe rotation.
- Chose the telescopes which go into the sum per band.
Make sure that the band flipping switch is set to
NORMAL
- Make sure that the 1MHz rail signal is off.
- Go to the source or calibrator and start the observation.
- Check the total power levels going into the DLB, this needs to be done
one IF at a time. Choose the IFs from the thumbwheel on the W160-4 panel and
adjust the attenuators from the ASTI box. The fiducial level is 25.0.
- Start the real observation. Do you want to use the test or
production system?
