The "FIRST" MERLIN and VLBI Faint Source Survey.

We have selected a field from the VLA FIRST Survey which is typical in all respects except one: it contains a bright, but extremely compact VLBI calibrator - J1159+291 . Within 1.5 degrees of this calibrator, lie 127 sources which we have observed with MERLIN and the EVN at 6cm and 18cm in phase-reference mode.
