VENUE

The conference will take place at ASTRON Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy in Dwingeloo, the Netherlands. Dwingeloo is in the north-east of the Netherlands, and can be reached in about 20 minutes by either private car or taxi from Hoogeveen railway station. From Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Hoogeveen takes 1h+50min by train.

TRANSPORTATION DURING THE CONFERENCE 

On Monday 12 May at 11:00, 11:30 and 12:00 CEST, we have organized shuttle buses from Hoogeveen railway station to ASTRON. This is free of charge. 

In case you need transportation outside this time scope, please email beyondearth@astron.nl to organize a taxi. Kindly note that this at your own expense; costs are Eur 43,25 if booked via ASTRON. There are no taxis waiting outside of Hoogeveen railway station.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION – please note that the block reservations for the conference at the hotels below have expired. Any availability will be at commercial rates.

Participants are requested to make and pay for their own hotel room reservation. 

There are three hotels near ASTRON:

1.  Fletcher hotel De Borken in Dwingeloo (2 kilometres from ASTRON).

2. Hotel Wesseling in Dwingeloo (3.5 kilometres from ASTRON)

3. Van der Valk hotel Spier-Dwingeloo (6.5 kilometres from ASTRON)

You can install the NS app on your phone if you like. Download the NS app free of charge from the App Store or Google Play.

Train tickets:  

• You can purchase a ticket online. See https://www.ns.nl/en/tickets or https://www.ns.nl/en/tickets/one-way-ticket

Print the ticket of load into the NS app – showing the PDF on your phone is not valid!

Use the barcode of the ticket to open the gates at the station. You don’t need to check in or check out when you purchase a ticket online. 

• Via debit card or credit card: you can check in and out with your debit or credit card. The money for the trip will be deducted from your card/bank account. For more info see: https://www.ns.nl/en/travel-information/check-in-check-out/debit-card

Before boarding the train, you must always check in with debit card or creditcard (or OV chipkaart if you have this). You can do this at a pole or gate at the entrance to the station. Don’t forget to check out when you are leaving the train!
