These diagnostic plots from the PSRCHIVE utility "pdmp" attempt to optimize the S/N of a folded and dedispersed pulsar data cube. Most relevant to judging a detection is the peak in S/N as a function of dispersion measure (DM) and pulse period (top plot). The peak DM/P is very well predicted by the X-ray-derived rotational ephemeris. The cumulative pulse profile is shown at the bottom. Despite the very low S/N of the WSRT detection, we believe it to be credible given the match with the prediction of the rotational ephemeris.
