Teaching

I have a zero-appointment to the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute at the University of Groningen. As part of that, I teach an elective master's course on dwarf galaxies. The course focuses on developing writing skills, in addition to the scientific content.

In the past, I had teaching experience while a graduate student at Cornell University, including designing a teaching portfolio. You can find more information below.

I have served as a teaching assistant for the introductory astronomy courses at Cornell, Astronomy 1101: The Nature of the Universe and Astronomy 1102: Our Solar System. I have also taken the course ALS 6015: The Practice of Teaching in Higher Education and attened a Center for Astronomy Education workshop in order to develop my teaching skills. Through these experiences I have solidified the belief that the classroom should be a learning experience and focused on the students.
