IT Lunch

In february 2005 an initiative was formed to organize an IT-lunch after the Astro-lunch example. This idea has now solidified into the following plan. The goals of the IT-lunch are:

  • Familiarity with experiences and practices in other departments. The goal is to increase reuse of software and allow for easier localization of available expertise.
  • Increased focus on interoperability between different (software) projects.
  • Communication of "best practices".
  • Increased familiarity with new techniques.

The initial plan is to organize a meeting once a month from 12:30 to 13:00. A speaker will have prepared a small presentation of 15-20 minutes with focus on the above 4 goals. After the presentation there will be some time for discussion.
As a test 6 meetings will be organized in the following months. See the schedule below for currently planned meetings.

    I have two questions:

  • If people want to receive further notices of these meetings, please tell me if you have not already done so. Further information will only be sent to those that have shown interest in receiving information.
  • If you are working on a technique/subject that would be of interest, could you contact me to discuss the possibility of giving a presentation?

    Current Status

As the 6 test sessions are over, the continuation of the IT Lunch has been reviewed by management. It has been agreed that organising these meetings can continue. Therefore I am currently soliciting topics again.
