| Description: | On april 28th, the EXPReS network recorded 'first light', at a wavelength of 1310nm - when we connected the 10Gb/s fiber interface to SURFnet, and from there to the rest of the world. The EXPReS network will be used for e-VLBI experiments and will consist of 16 lightpaths of 1Gb/s (orange fibers) and a 10Gb/s link (yellow fibers). Together with SURFnet and Geant we're building lightpaths to most of the telescopes in the European VLBI Network (EVN), which will all connect to the new JIVE network switch pictured above. |
