Software packages and datasets

In order to follow the tutorials during the ERIS2013 school, participants should install several software packages in their own computers (see the links below).

 

 

=== AIPS ===

The Astronomical Image Processing System (AIPS) package (version 31DEC12) can be installed by following the instructions available at:
http://www.aips.nrao.edu/install.shtml

The latest version of the INSTALL WIZARD can instead be downloaded from
http://www.aips.nrao.edu/latest.shtml

The AIPS Cookbook can instead be found here:
http://www.aips.nrao.edu/cook.html

To test the installation of AIPS follows the instructions available at:

=== CASA ===

The Common Astronomy Software Applications (CASA) package (version 4.1.0) can be downloaded from the following link:
http://casa.nrao.edu/casa_obtaining.shtml

You can find the CASA Cookbook together with other useful documentation here:
http://casa.nrao.edu/using.shtml

To test the installation of CASA follows the instructions available at:

=== GIPSY ===

For those attending the parallel session 'Analysis of spectra line data cubes' on Friday 13/09, you will also need to install GIPSY.
Download and Installation Guide available at:
http://www.astro.rug.nl/~gipsy
You might experience problems when installing Gipsy, please contact Hans Terlouw (terlouw@astro.rug.nl).

 

 

 

=== TUTORIALS ===

The tutorial materials can be downloaded from the following table. To download the files you need a username/password that will be provided by email.
NB: The datasets of Tutorial T1 will also be used for Tutorial T2. The materials of Tutorial T5 and T8c (in case you attend it) have to stay into the same directory.
