Geophysical Interferometry with LOFAR

| Description: | This non-astronomical application of LOFAR uses the background noise produced by man-induced earthquakes (as a result of gas prodcution). The signal detected by many underground sensors is tranformed into a picture of the subsurface. Thanks to the streaming processesing bandwidth of LOFAR/STELLA, a "film" can be made for studying the complex development of earthquakes. |
