Dynamic spectrum from ITS observation of Lightnings

| Description: | Dynamic spectrum from data recorded using the LOFAR ITS during severe weather conditions (12 Aug 2004). Data from ITS have been recorded in capture mode, i.e. 80 MHz sampling for during a time interval of approx. 4 seconds. Processing was done using the LOPES-Tools software (used for analysis of cosmic ray data taken with the LOPES experiment, Karlsruhe). The dynamic spectrum was generated by adding up the power spectra from the individual antennas. The main visible features are: persistent RFI (horizontal lines) and broad-band lightning discharge radio emission. The findings have been confirmed using data from KNMI's SAFIR network, results have been presented at this years International Lightning Detection COnference (ILDC). |
