Localized LNA cooling (in vacuum)

| Description: | An LNA chip, designed by Roel Witvers (Astron) has been coolded using a thermoelectric cooler. Cooling the LNA this way results in a noise reduction of 15 to 30% with only 35mW of power consumption for the cooler, the temperature is 55K below ambient. For maximum efficiency, the system has been placed in a vacuum room and the chip is only connected by 6 bondwires |
