First fringes to Evpatoria (Ukraine)

| Description: | On Thursday 3rd August the European VLBI Network (EVN) recorded the first VLBI fringes from the Evpatoria radio telescope in Ukraine. The fringes were achieved during a ftp fringe test including the Medicina and Westerbork stations of the EVN. The data were sent in (almost) real-time by ftp and correlated using the software correlator at JIVE. The Evpatoria station would provide useful intermediate baselines between western europe and China were it to join the EVN. |
