Disseminating knowledge through SKADS

Submitter: A. van Ardenne
Description: Our Canadian colleagues at the Dominion Radio Astronomical Observarory (DRAO) working on focal plane arrays (FPA). As the name suggests, an FPA is placed in the focal plane of a parabolic reflector, to increase the field-of-view. The design of the socalled Vivaldi ('bunny ear') antennas is closely related to those of the FPA's developed at ASTRON.
DRAO is also building the largest astronomical correlator in the world, for use by the extended Very Large Array (VLA) telescope in the USA.
