BHV practice

Submitter: Nico Ebbendorf
Description: Most of you have occasionally experienced an evacuation of the ASTRON building. Fortunately, these are only drill exercises for all personnel, and the “Bedrijfs Hulp Verlening” BHV. Evacuation of the building is not the only time for the BHV to swing into action. The BHV acts as a first-aid group in all (?) possible calamitous situations at ASTRON until professional help arrives. All BHV members have followed professional training in medical first aid, fire extinction and building evacuation. These items are exercised on a regular basis (which made you acquainted with the building evacuation).

The picture shows another BHV exercise. Here a first-aid action is trained to place a person who got unwell, in a stable position prior to the arrival of professional help.
By doing this type of regular training, the BHV will be kept up-to-date, and ready to provide first-aid help to all of you when necessary, and making ASTRON a safe working environment.

P.S: The situation on the picture is simulated. In fact, Ruud is very fit to give you any assistance when required, and the others are NOT trying to pick his pockets. This note is just to avoid ugly and irresponsible rumours….
