Chinese-Australian-European e-VLBI fringes

Submitter: Kristine yun
Description: On 28 August, collaborators in the EXPReS project conducted the first successful real-time correlation of e-VLBI data from China-Australia and China-Europe baselines during a demonstration. As an added bonus, fringes from source 3C273B were obtained at the end of the run from Mopra and European telescopes. The Mopra-Darnhall baseline is perhaps the longest earth baseline ever, and the demonstration as a whole marked the culmination of considerable progress in data streaming solutions and coordination among numerous network providers.

Participating telescopes included Mopra, Sheshan, Darnhall, Jodrell Bank, Medicina, Torun and Westerbork. Data was transferred via networks operated by AARNet, CANARIE, CERNET, CSTNET, DANTE and SURFnet.
