Description: | At the end of May, the Norwegian ambassador visited ASTRON and JIVE, as part of a delegation also including Rob Engelsman, director of the SNN (Samenwerkingsverband Noord-Nederland).The SNN (European Affairs/KOMPAS) project has been a major contributor to the LOFAR project, in addition to the original BSIK award. The ambassador listened to a presentation about ASTRON, and then was invited on a tour of the facilities led by Yde Koopman. The day was rounded-off with a traditional dutch "borrel". The ambassador seemed to enjoy her visit, and was impressed by people's enthusiasm for their work and their achievements. She left with the goal of involving more norwegian engineers and scientists in radio astronomy in general, and LOFAR in particular.
