Description: | At ASTRON we are used to receiving all kinds of young visitors from all over the world. Until last week however, our guests have usually been confined to the human variety. Trust Alicia Berciano-Alba (PhD student at the Kapteyn Institute in Groningen) to buck the trend. Last week, Alicia was nursing a young chick that had apparently fallen out of its nest. It seemed to enjoy the cool environment of the new Science Support Centre quarters, but got pretty noisy and distressed when Alicia was busy analysing her data using AIPS. Afficionados of the Measurement Equation will surely understand our fine feathered friend's objections! Alicia's most recent report: "Talyn is doing great, he grew 1/3rd of his weight in a week. We are buying a huge cage for him now. Is a bit like having a baby :)" |
