Description: | Last week Jason Hessels, one of our new staff members in the astronomy group, was awarded the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies/UMI 2008 Distinguished Dissertation Award for his PhD thesis. In this thesis Jason announced the discovery of the fastest-spinning radio pulsar known (Hessels et al. 2006, Science 311). Jason is currently preparing the large LOFAR radio pulsar survey, but is also active in studies of radio transients and high-energy emission associated with pulsars. Congratulations Jason! |
