Description: | One year after having finished the first ('prototype') of two 400 mm F/5 telescopes, the second telescope had its first light last Saturday. It has always been a dream of us (us is Albert van Duin and Rik ter Horst) to make a large aperture telescope for observing deep-sky objects as well as moon and planets. Two years of manufacturing optics and mechanics went by before this milestone was achieved. As the telescopes don't have a drive yet, they'll be used mainly visually. We plan to have a 'kijkavond' soon for all who are interested to have a look through the instruments. Another advantage of two optically identical instruments: now we can do Interferometry!! ;-) |
