Placing the EMBRACE backend container

Submitter: Pieter Benthem
Description: Presented here is the EMBRACE backend container being placed next to the radome. The HF container is from NIOS (Texel). It has been sprayed with the same coating as the radome. In this way, the container will be protected from the weather and other environmental influences.

Inside the container, the EMBRACE backend will be placed. It will process all the signals from the frontend. The 288 coaxial cables coming from the 144 "hex-tiles" will pass through the radome wall, entering the backend container using feed-through plates. Inside the container, a different type of coaxial cable is used to connect all the tiles to the backend hardware.

The Mammoet company supplied us with a 35 ton crane and did an excellent job placing the container. We would also like to acknowledge Jan-Pieter de Reijer, Peter Gruppen, Sjouke Kuindersma and Albert Wieringh for all the work and support during this operation.
