"High precision radio pulsar timing" doctorate granted

Submitter: Joeri van Leeuwen
Description: On March 25th Gemma Janssen successfully defended her PhD thesis on "High precision radio pulsar timing". In her thesis she showcases different types of radio-pulsar science, all done with Westerbork; including the first ever radio pulsars discovered from The Netherlands. Dr. Janssen will hopefully continue to work with us within the European Pulsar Timing Array collaboration. One of the upcoming projects there will be the "Large European Array for Pulsars" (LEAP) that will coherently combine all the large European radio telescopes to equal Arecibo for super-sensitive observations of radio pulsars.
Shown in the image is the meeting room where the committee decided to award the PhD, and a copy of the thesis.
