The 8th International e-VLBI Workshop, Madrid, June 22-26

| Description: | This workshop marked the end of the highly succesfull EC-funded EXPReS project and was attended by astronomical researchers and engineers from around the world. It was a mixed scientific and technical workshop, during which astronomers reported on the new results obtained through e-VLBI and discussed the future potential of this technique. The engineers reviewed and reported on past and ongoing developments regarding network technologies, digital receivers and correlators. One day of the workshop was held at the recently commissioned 40m Yebes telescope, where the picture was taken. The workshop was well attended and inspired a good amount of lively discussions. Last but not least: the emerging international VLBI Data Interface Specification (VDIF) standard was ratified, which should greatly facilitate the exchange of VLBI data between observatories and correlators. |
