Description: | On October 10th, the VVD Senate fraction visited the province of Drenthe to learn more of its historic past, present and future. And to glimpse the future, they visited ASTRON in Dwingeloo. ASTRON director Prof. Dr. Michael Garrett welcomed the esteemed visitors and presented the research that goes on in Dwingeloo, and led them on a tour of the labs and control room. The senators' next stop was the 25m Dwingeloo telescope, where Paul Boven (CAMRAS/JIVE) demonstrated reception of the signals from CasA, a strong source 11.000 lightyears away. The tour then continued on to Westerbork where Dr. Michiel Brentjens (ASTRON) showed them around at the WSRT. |
