| Description: | On 5 Feb, Joeri van Leeuwen was elected as Secretary of the NAC, the Astronomical Society of The Netherlands and Belgium. For the next three years ASTRON will thus host the Society's secretariat, further powered by Marjan Tibbe and Liesbet Elpenhof. The NAC was founded on 5 October 1918 and currently has 472 members. It aims to promote the study of astronomy. To that end, the NAC stimulates education in astronomy at primary and high schools, and organizes the annual Nederlandse Astronomenconferentie (the 2010 edition being held in Nijmegen, May 19-21). Membership is open to anyone with a PhD in astronomy, master's and PhD students, and physics and maths teachers at high schools. So you should sign up here!. |
