| Description: | Last Wednesday, 10th March, a group of engineers, scientist and directors gathered in a hotel in Zaandam for the kick-off meeting of the Aperture Array Verification Program: AAVP. AAVP is the successor of SKADS in many respects; European teams complemented with an Australian partner start (read continue) to work together on the next phase in the realization of Aperture Arrays for the SKA. In the words of Paul Alexander, UK PI: in SKADS we were selling the AA concept, now in AAVP we need to demonstrate the full performance. AAVP includes the plan for the realization of a 2000m2 AA Verification System: AAVS. Coordination of AAVP is in the hands of Arnold van Ardenne. |
