| Description: | Two months ago Ronald Plasterk, in his last act as Minister of Science, presented the luminous award shown above for our "PALFA/GBT pulsar survey project". The award includes the set-up of dynamical light paths between our ASTRON, Groningen and Amsterdam (UvA + SARA) storage and computing resources. These we combine to search for new pulsars in the Arecibo/GBT data. Three SURFnet movies about this project are now online: a short movie about the contest (pulsars @ 1m35s), a longer movie about the pulsar project specifically in which Joeri explains the UvA end while Jason introduces the ASTRON end at 2m50s, and finally the award ceremony in The Hague (Dutch, pulsars @ 9m40s). |
