First NEXPReS Board meeting held at JBCA

| Description: | The first meeting of the NEXPReS Board was held Monday 20 September in Manchester, UK. Of course, there were the typical duties of discussing a Consortium Agreement, appointing a chair (Ralph Spencer, JBCA) and co-chair (Norbert Meyer, PSNC), approving a management team and reviewing work packages, peppered with the kinds of pointed questions and discussion which make such meetings productive and keep the coordinating institute on its toes. The Board also managed to find a little time to sample Manchester's famed curry, as well as some NEXPReS-inspired lollipops which will also make an appearance at the upcoming e-VLBI Workshop in Perth. NEXPReS (Novel EXplorations Pushing Robust e-VLBI Services) launched in July and aims to build on the success of the EXPReS project by combining the "best of both worlds" - the speed and flexibility of e-VLBI with the data archiving and reprocessing of traditional VLBI. Through development of cloud correlation, high bandwidth on demand, distributed correlation, and distributed, networked storage on demand, NEXPReS aims to incorporate e-VLBI into all EVN observations.
