Description: | Following the successful UNAWE workshop for teachers of primary schools in Groningen last June, 15 enthusiastic teachers took a visit to ASTRON in Dwingeloo. During a beautiful sunny day they listened breathlessly to a very passionate story of astronomer Roy Smits and learned about the specific and famous role the Netherlands plays in this sport.
A tour of the high technical laboratory and a peek into the control room of the Westerbork and LOFAR Telescope were on the program. Before the afternoon ended with drinks, CAMRAS Foundation – responsible for the restoration of the 'old' Radio telescope in Dwingeloo – took the teachers to a real measurement. Result: they did find and heard a real pulsar!
