Description: | The Expanded Very Large Array project is a major upgrade of the VLA that started in 2001 and will be completed at the end of 2012. When completed, the array will provide continous frequency coverage from 1 to 50 GHz, a continuum sensitivity of typically 1 micro-Jy/beam (in 12 hr with full bandwidth), and a modern correlator (WIDAR) with vastly greater capabilities and flexibility than the VLA's. In this presentation, I describe the EVLA project, and the current and furure capabilities of the Jansky VLA. I also give the details of the new capabilities to be offered for the August 1st proposal deadline. |
