ASTRON's new building takes shape

| Description: | A couple of days ago, I was lucky enough to be able to tour the new building together with Anne Veendijk. As can be seen in the accompanying images, the new building is beginning to really take shape with walls now erected on the top floor and many of the facility installations now in place. The coloured sheets protecting the outside of the building provided some nice lighting conditions for the images. The picture of Anne shows the area that will eventually become the new colloquium room. Hopefully part of the new building will become occupied before the end of the year - use of the colloquium should be possible some time early in 2013. Today the MT (with the discussion led by Diana Verwij) will discuss the financial aspects of the project and approve the final allocation of office space. It's quite some time since ASTRON and NWO began to think about the need to upgrade our main HQ here in Dwingeloo - the rapid progress and exciting results that we now enjoy makes the wait all the more worthwhile. |
