Summer Students 2012: Low-frequency radio source properties from MSSS

| Description: | The spectral index distribution of 5000 sources detected in 10 fields from the LOFAR Multifrequency Snapshot Sky Survey (MSSS) is likely a superposition of two underlying distributions. One is the theoretical narrow distribution centered near the value -0.7. The other is much broader and centered on zero, likely including many spurious sources. Around the outside are images of a few well behaved high S/N detections. The background image is the processed field L228+58.
