Expansion and Diversity of the ASTRON Board

Description: Earlier this year, the ASTRON board expanded with the addition of two new members:

  • Jacqueline Rijsdijk (right) brings to the board a wide range of experience in the area of finance and business management having held senior positions at De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and Fortis.

  • Josee van Eindhoven (left) is Professor in Sustainable Management at the Dutch Research Institute for Transitions (DRIFT, Erasmus University Rotterdam) and a former director of the Rathenau Institute in The Hague.

    They join the current ASTRON board, which further comprises of Prof. Karel Gaemers (chair), Sipke Swierstra (chair of the LOFAR RvT), Prof. Johan Bleeker (former General Director of SRON) and Prof. J. de Hosson (professor of applied physics at the University of Groningen).

Director of the Donald Smits Centre for Information Technology in Groningen) shows Josee and Jacqueline enjoying a visit to the IBM Blue Gene/P supercomputer in Groningen as part of a comprehensive tour of ASTRON's facilities. The new board members also visited Westerbork, LOFAR and our HQ in Dwingeloo.

    THe ASTRON Board meets today in Dwingeloo, it will be the 105th meeting of the Board since the first meeting was held on the 26th of October 1948!
