Description: | I will outline recent work on Zeeman splitting of Galactic hydroxyl masers, both ground and excited-state transitions, discussing the expectations and conventions of magnetic fields determined from the spectral line splitting. I will discuss a large scale survey for ground-state hydroxyl towards regions of high mass star formation and a smaller scale survey of excited-state hydroxyl exploring the propensity of linearly polarised pi components (previously believed to be elusive). Finally I will talk about the Square Kilometre Array, it's status and progress, and what areas of this work it may contribute to. |
