Description: | Regular visitors to the WSRT will recognize this house, located outside the entrance of the observatory grounds. It used to be the house of the Kommandant of the former Camp Westerbork, where Jews and others were held by the Germans during WWII, prior to being transported "elsewhere". The house now forms part of the exhibits presented at the nearby Memorial Centre. Obviously, it is deemed important enough to be preserved in this somewhat unusual fashion. |
