Description: | A recent Daily Image featured the Lynx Astrograph, designed and built by Rik ter Horst of ASTRON-NOVA. During the summer holidays I had the opportunity to do a night of imaging with this fast telescope under a dark sky in Burlage, Germany. It was a beautiful night, with very low humidity and a beautiful Milky Way overhead. At the end of this night in September, the familiar winter constellations were already starting to rise in the south-east. I couldn't resist making an image of the Horsehead Nebula in Orion, even though the sky was quickly getting brighter due to the appoaching dawn. Three integrations of 300s each were made @800ISO with a modified Canon 6D (CentralDS Astro-6D). The image shows the power of a fast (F/2.5) Astrograph and a modern digital single lens reflex camera. |
