Colloquium - A Relativistic Particle-in-Cell (PIC) Pair Plasma Jet Simulation

Description: A 3D visualization of the magnetic field structure within a particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation of a relativistic electron-positron (i.e., pair plasma) jet. Each vector highlights the magnetic field strength within an individual computational cell (see color bar to the right for field strength in Gauss). These simulations are used as the basis for polarized radiative transfer calculations, that via ray-racing, study the imprints that the composition of jet's plasma leave in the polarized emission detected by mm-wave VLBI observations.
