Italian ambassador visits ASTRON/JIVE

| Description: | Last Friday we were honored to show our telescopes and scientific work to Mr. Andrea Perugini, ambassador to Italy in the Netherlands, who was invited for a tour by Raffaella Morganti and Carole Jackson. The tour started at the ASTRON headquarters, where the ambassador visited the Timeline, our telescope technology mockups and the Control Room. He also visited JIVE, where he was informed about Italy's important contributions to the EVN and shown some of the exciting ongoing research supported by JIVE. After talking to the Italian staff about what it’s like to live in The Netherlands and work at ASTRON, he visited the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope and the LOFAR “superterp”. He talked to many of our enthusiastic Italian staff, and also staff from other nationalities, and discussed the strong connection we have with Italy. A big thank you to everyone who participated for making this visit both informative and memorable. |
