Description: | The WEAVE Spectrograph is currently being built for the William Herschel Telescope on La Palma by a large pan-European consortium that includes NOVA-ASTRON. One part of the spectrograph is the large Integral Field Unit (LIFU) that allows for simultaneous imaging and spectroscopy of astronomical objects. This assembly test, built by Elfi Dijkstra, of the LIFU, consists of 609 fibres, each 220 microns in diameter and will allow mapping of 1.5 x 1.2 arcminutes on sky. |
