Lunar craters

| Description: | It has been a while since I had the chance to use my telescope. The night of March 31 promised to be a good one, so I took my 250 mm Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope outside. With the moon high in the sky, it was an excellent opportunity for an imaging session of the moon. This image shows some interesting areas of the moon; some parts are smooth, almost without craters or mountains while other areas are dotted with craters and mountains. Especially the image at the right, showing the area around crater Albategnius. Interesting to see are the long shadows on its craterfloor. Telescope: homebuilt 250 mm F/15 Schmidt Cassegrain. Camera: ASI120MM, with red filter to reduce the effects of the seeing. |
