| Description: | By flying the rainbow flag, ASTRON/JIVE want to emphasise that diversity is an important theme. The 6th of October is National Diversity Day, a day to work on improving diversity in all its aspects, including sexual preferences, gender identify, origin, religion, physical disabilities, a distance to the labour market, and more. ASTRON and JIVE strive to be organisations in which everyone feels comfortable to be themselves.
A particular theme that the MT and Diversity Committee are focusing on is making sure that ASTRON/JIVE is a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA community; ASTRON/JIVE unequivocally support the right of everyone to openly express their sexual orientation or gender identity. The flag will hang through the weekend in order to also recognise the national Coming Out Day (11th of October), which celebrates the fact that people should be free to openly express their gender identity and sexual orientation. |
