A messy but tasty end of the year

| Description: | 2021 was in danger of coming to a very disappointing end. The days were getting darker fast and the hope of the pandemic easing its grip on our lives had evaporated. To the rescue came the ASTRON/JIVE personnel's association! Using their super power to bring fun and excitement into the lives of colleagues, they set out to organise a festive treat: an online bonbon making workshop! It was raining registrations and the counter was climbing fast towards thirty participants. Packages with ingredients were sent to all these lucky people, containing sufficient bonbon material to get us through the holiday period (or at least those not belonging to the Chocoholics Anonymous Club). During the two-hour workshop, we learnt the tricks of the trade from a professional via Zoom. We melted chocolate, unleashed our creativity with food colouring and brushes, whipped up tasty fillings and put it all together in a bonbon mould. While some people (from the Dishwasher-Less Club) complained about the heap of dirty dishes they ended up with, we all agreed that the results were well worth the mess. Beautiful and delicious, our bonbons ended up being a treat for the eye and the taste buds alike. The plethora of enthusiastic "thank you" messages and photos of the beautiful (and tasty!) creations shared on the ASTRON Slack were the icing on the cake (sorry, bonbon). |
