| Description: | End 1990s ASTRON got involved in an European consortium led by ATC-UK in Edinburgh developing an mid-IR instrument for JWST, the group at ASTRON was responsible for the main spectrometer of MIRI. This extremely well coordinated instrument was delivered to NASA in 2012, having to wait for the completion of the telescope and space-craft and launched 25 December 2021. Now at its final location the telescope and instruments are aligned and showing the first images of this observatory |
