As Project Scientist, Michael was a key figure in getting LOFAR off the ground and also oversaw an expansion of the number of research astronomers at ASTRON. He's now Director of our sister institute SRON, but apparently still misses ASTRON enough that he slipped up during his speech and said "Director of ASTRON" instead of SRON. Could it have been a Freudian slip? |
