MICADO Filter Wheel Mechanism functional test

| Description: | Over the last few weeks, the MICADO filterwheel mechanism (consisting of 2 filterwheels) was assembled and tested in the ASTRON cleanroom. These warm functional tests were passed successfully. At the moment the filterwheel mechanism + pupilwheel mechanism (already tested last year) undergo functional and thermal tests at 80 Kelvin, in a test cryostat at MPE, in Munich. The left picture shows the filterwheel mechanism while being turned upside-down, in the ASTRON cleanroom. One of the filterwheels is visible, with mass dummies instead of the final optical components. The right picture shows the filter- and pupil-wheel mechanism combined in the test cryostat at MPE. Electronic cables, thermal straps, and temperature sensors have been connected. |
